Episode 23

For a number of reasons I am not at liberty to discuss, I was annoyed in the extreme throughout this morning’s show. Despite the bizarre circumstances, I still think things turned out well. I spoke with a couple of the show’s regular listeners before I left for the studio and suggested that it was going to be one of the most downtempo, potentially depressing ones ever. I won’t know for sure how the show turned out or whether it drove anyone to despair, though, until I can actually listen to the whole thing and hear from a few folks. Stay tuned.
There is good news, however. The next episode will mark the one-year anniversary of ECI (actually, it’ll come a day after the anniversary), and, given the show’s proximity to a major greeting-card holiday, I’ve finally decided what to do: the long-rumored love song show. I have yet to decide on the progression or the tunes, but suffice it to say that lyrically the tunes will cover a lot of bases: seeking love, finding love, losing it and perhaps even finding it again. Along the way, there’ll be many expressions of bitterness, elation and everything in between. It’ll definitely be worth hearing....

Episode 22

If you were actually one of this morning’s lucky listeners, you got to hear what a great job Chris, a trainee, did during the first part of the show. Keep checking the WHPK web page for the winter quarter schedule: Chris’s show will be worth hearing.
My show, on the other hand, is still a work in progress. The mistakes this morning were, of course, mine. Hopefully they weren’t too jarring. I guess your comments in person or on this page will let me know. I did have one major disappointment. There was a song I wanted to play really badly, and not only did the station’s players refuse to recognize the copy I bought 15-odd years ago, but there were also no CD or vinyl copies in the WHPK library. I won’t say what the recording is, but you can find it on the soundtrack of one of my favorite films ... ever. Guesses are welcome as to either what the song is or what the film is.
Now, however, I simply must get some sleep....
